Referral Program Terms
Version 2026-10-02 · Effective October 2, 2026
These terms govern the PermitStack referral program. They are in addition to the PermitStack Terms of Service, which also apply to your account. By joining the program from your dashboard you agree to them.
1. The program in brief
- You get a personal referral link and code in your dashboard.
- When a new customer you refer pays for a Developer, Business or Scale plan, you earn 30% of each payment they make during their first 12 months, or until they cancel, whichever comes first.
- Each commission becomes payable 30 days after the payment it comes from, and is paid in a monthly payout by PayPal or Wise once your payable balance is at least $25.
- The customer you refer gets 10% off their first 3 monthly payments.
2. Joining
Any PermitStack account in good standing, free or paid, can join from the dashboard by accepting these terms. Each account has one referral code. We may decline or remove a participant who breaks these terms or the Terms of Service.
3. How a customer is credited to you
- Link: when someone visits permit-stack.com through your link, their browser remembers your code for 60 days. If they create an account or check out within that time, they are credited to you.
- Code: a customer can also type your code in the promo code box at checkout.
- New customers only. A customer can be credited only if they have never paid PermitStack before, and their account (if they already have one) is less than 30 days old.
- First referrer wins. Once a customer is credited to a referrer, they stay with that referrer. A later link or code does not move them.
- Not eligible: your own accounts; anyone using an email address at your own company's domain; existing or past paying customers; and customers who pay with the same payment card as you. Referrals that look like these are held for review and are not paid unless we confirm they are genuine.
4. What you earn
- 30% of the amount the referred customer actually pays for a Developer, Business or Scale subscription, monthly or annual, excluding any sales tax, and after any discount and any refund.
- The 12 months start on the date of the customer's first paid invoice, on any plan. Payments made in that period on Developer, Business or Scale earn commission; payments on Indie or Hobbyist do not.
- An annual plan is a single payment, so it earns once. A renewal after the first 12 months does not earn commission.
- If the customer upgrades, payments after the upgrade earn commission, but the 12 months still run from their first paid invoice. If they downgrade below Developer, payments on the lower plan earn nothing.
- If the customer cancels, commission stops. If they come back within the original 12 months, commission resumes for the rest of that period.
- No commission is paid on bulk data exports, custom data deals, taxes or any other product.
- All amounts are in US dollars.
5. The customer's discount
- A new customer credited to you gets 10% off their first 3 monthly payments on any paid plan.
- The discount applies to monthly billing only. A customer who chooses annual billing is still credited to you, but gets no extra discount, because annual plans are already discounted.
- Discounts do not stack. If the customer uses a different promo code at checkout, that code's discount applies instead, and the customer is still credited to you if they arrived through your link.
6. When and how you are paid
- The 30-day hold. Each commission is shown as Pending until 30 days after the payment it comes from. It then becomes Ready to pay, as long as the payment was not refunded or disputed in that time.
- Monthly payouts. Everything ready to pay by the end of a month is paid on or around the 5th of the following month. A commission is therefore paid between about 30 and 60 days after the customer's payment.
- Minimum. Payouts are made when your ready-to-pay balance is at least $25. A smaller balance carries forward to the next month.
- Method. We pay by PayPal or Wise to the account email you enter in your dashboard. We pay the transfer fee. If no payout method is on file, your balance keeps accruing and is paid once you add one.
- Receipts. Each payout appears in your dashboard with its date, amount and transaction ID, and you receive an email confirmation.
- Refunds and disputes. A refund or payment dispute during the hold reduces or cancels that commission before it is paid. A refund or dispute after the commission was paid is deducted from your next payouts, and shown in your dashboard.
- Review. We may hold a commission for review where a referral appears to break these terms. Held commissions are shown as Under review.
7. Taxes
- You are responsible for any taxes on what you earn. You participate as an independent party, not as an employee.
- Before your payouts in a calendar year reach $600, we need a completed tax form: a W-9 if you are a US person, or a W-8BEN if you are not. Payouts above that amount are paused until we receive it. We will email you when it is needed.
- We may report payments to tax authorities as the law requires, for example on Form 1099-NEC.
- Tax forms are sent to us by email and kept with our accounting records. Tax identification numbers are never stored in your PermitStack account.
8. How you may promote PermitStack
Share your link honestly, with people and companies who may genuinely need permit data. You must not:
- send spam or unsolicited bulk email or messages, or break anti-spam laws such as CAN-SPAM;
- post your code or link on coupon, deal, cashback or rebate websites;
- bid on "PermitStack", "Permit Stack" or similar terms or misspellings in paid search or social ads, or use them in domain names, usernames or ad copy that could be mistaken for PermitStack itself;
- make claims about PermitStack's coverage, data, features or prices beyond what permit-stack.com states, or promise discounts or terms other than those in Section 5;
- present yourself as PermitStack, or as acting on its behalf;
- create accounts, sign-ups or purchases that are not genuine, or offer people money to sign up.
If you are paid or rewarded for what you post, you must say so clearly, as the US Federal Trade Commission requires (for example "I earn a commission if you sign up through my link").
9. Our relationship
You are not an employee, agent, partner or representative of PermitStack. You cannot sign agreements, accept orders, quote custom terms or make commitments for PermitStack. Customers you refer buy directly from PermitStack on its standard terms.
10. Fraud and violations
We may withhold, reverse or cancel commission that results from fraud, from a referral that is not eligible under Section 3, or from a breach of these terms, and we may suspend or remove your participation. Where we can, we will tell you why.
11. Your information
Your dashboard shows only each referred customer's email domain (for example acmeroofing.com, or "Gmail user" and similar for a personal email address), their current plan and the relevant dates. It never shows their name, email address or usage. We store your payout email address and country to pay you.
12. Changes and ending
- We may change these terms or the commission rates, or end the program, with at least 30 days' notice by email and in your dashboard. If the terms change, you will be asked to accept the new version to keep earning.
- Commission earned before a change or the end of the program is paid under the terms that applied when it was earned.
- You may leave the program at any time by emailing us. If you leave, or the program ends, commission that has already been earned is still paid once it clears its hold, even if it is below the $25 minimum.
